Hello World

Since we’ve shared photos from this shoot already, we thought it was fitting that our first article was about this outfit, our style, and a “hello” to the magazine world of blogging.

Graffiti Denim Jacket Tulle

Our Style & Outfit Details

Our writers are classy, slightly edgy and feminine. Here’s an outfit that pretty much sums up who we are:

  • The tulle in blush pink is iconically delicate.

  • The white J.Crew t-shirt is clean, simple, and well-fitting. (Yes, we mention clean because we’re moms too and our toddlers always have something sticky on their hands.)

  • The J.Crew statement necklace (similar necklace) helps add a bit of glam.

  • The H&M denim jacket is that little edge and pop of contrast that helps balance the look.

  • And we would be remiss if we didn’t add a pair of beige Zara shoes with a silver heel (similar heels) to deliver the final feminine touch.

The World of Blogging

We’re here to contribute to the fashion and beauty conversation. This magazine is designed to share evidence-based gems based on research, experience and just plain good sense. Magnolia & Tulle is a platform to get inspired, exchange ideas, and push ourselves to be the best version of ourselves – on the ‘gram and in person. Feel free to join the dialogue and let us know what you think. But we ask that you’re always kind with your feedback and to one another.

At the end of the day, we hope Magnolia & Tulle emboldens you to learn, become an educated consumer and change the way you see the world.

Shopping

Here’s a general overview of our shopping style.

Online Shopping

First and foremost, we are online shoppers. We love a good sale and we’re not afraid to stalk pieces that catch our eye until we can afford them. The mailman, UPS, and FedEx all know who we are.

In-Store Shopping (with a Zara sale example)

While we love online shopping, you’ll definitely see us in a store during Zara’s infamous sales. In fact, when the sale is in full blast, we may go several times a week. Before you think we’re insane, let us explain.

First, full disclosure – no one at Magnolia & Tulle has ever worked at Zara. But armed with Zara research from former employees and personal experience, we can give you this brief rundown.

Now, onto the explanation. First, we browse the website and app to get an idea of what we’re looking for or interested in. We may place an online order but it’s unlikely because the prices drop as the sale progresses.

But, if you know anything about Zara, they don’t have everything on the app. The stores have additional inventory that may not be listed yet. So, it’s time to emerge from our cocoon and visit an actual store – harsh mall lighting and all.

At the beginning of the sale, we’ll browse and decide whether an item is worth the slightly discounted price. If not, we’ll make a mental note and come back in a few days. It’s a beautiful sight to see additional discounts (aka red sticker on top of red sticker). Plus, it’s important to come back because Zara continually adds items in batches (online and in-store).

These sales generally last two to three weeks and prices continue to get cut as the sale progresses. We’ll cover an in-depth blog about Zara’s sales in the future. But for now, trust us when we say that there’s a method to our madness.

In-Season or Out-of-Season

While we’ll always try to post outfits that you can purchase, there may be times that our writers have snagged something on sale, or it’s just a beloved piece from a previous season. We’ll always try to link something similar, so you’ll always be able to recreate the look.

Linking outfits is especially hard if we’re thrifting or buying something second-hand, which isn’t often but it happens. Worst-case scenario, I’ll tell you the brand so we can form a movement to bring that item back next season.

Making Money

Magnolia & Tulle is part of affiliate programs, which means that we may use affiliate links. If you click a link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission. But first and foremost, our opinions are unbiased. We have declined working with brands that don’t meet our standards.

Alternatively, you may also see ads on our website, which help support our insatiable shopping habits.

We appreciate your support.
